My Journey

Where it began…

My professional journey started in 2007 when I enrolled in a Computer Science degree at the University of Westminster in Harrow. During my time there, we covered numerous languages such as C++, Java, and PHP. We also covered various process-related topics such as project management and systems analysis, which helped us broaden our understanding of software delivery.

Things of note that were missing would include anything Agile/Scum related and software testing, which is extremely ironic as I would consider these to be amongst the key pillars my career has since been built on

Discovering Software Testing

upon graduation, I was able to secure an internship at Interactive Ideas (now CMS Distribution). The role involved me working alongside another intern on the transition from their old accounting software over to Sage 200. I would be gathering the requirements from the current users, doing what we could to configure the new software, whilst getting paid consultants to do the rest. We would then test the changes and ensure the rollout went as smoothly as possible. Although the role was not as technical as I initially had hoped, it did show me how enjoyable I found the role of testing and requirements gathering
